BRIAN FLORANCE – aka “The Weymouth Warrior”
Why "The Weymouth Warrior"? I'm a husband, father, Grandfather at the ripe old age of 64 who lives in Weymouth and loves sport, especially cycling. Unfortunately having a knee replacement is a constant reminder of my youth, but I never let that stop my determination in setting myself personal riding challenges like this one for "It's in the Bag".
My favourite colours are black and white (my home town), and I enjoy listening to most music, but everyone loves a bit of Queen don't they? On the tour, you are likely to see me at the end of the day eating pizza, washed down with an ice cold Newcastle Brown Ale. However, I do love a Navy rum called Gunpowder, which goes down very nicely, so make mine a double!
So why Le Tour de Balls Deux?
I have had many family and friends affected by different forms of cancer, so I wanted to give something back for the support and treatment they have received. I am not only raising awareness of Testicular Cancer, the most common form of cancer in men, but also would like to raise money in support of this local South West Charity.
My claim to fame?
Last year, I rode the Axel Merckx Okanagan Granfondo (100 miles) in British Columbia, Canada. This was a major challenge for me but all made worthwhile as I actually got to meet and be photographed with Axel himself. It was a highlight of my trip but unfortunately didn't get tp meet his dad "Eddie" who was a cycling idol from when I was younger.
Thank you, Brian, for taking part in Le Tour de Balls Deux and supporting It’s in the Bag.
